extreme couponing - may 14th edition

Did a little extreme couponing today. Needed some staple (expensive) items such as truvia and fiber one bars so we decided to let the free items practically pay for them. It's a good week for cheap-o stuff at publix!

- 15 Fuze drinks: normally $1.29, paid $.33 (Total: $5)
- 9 Mahatma rices: $.89, was paid $.11 per bag (Total: -$.99)
- 5 packs of Bandaids: $.79, was paid $.21 per container (Total: -$1.05)
- 6 Stride gums: normally $1.49, paid $.34 (Total: $2.04)
- 4 homestyle Mac & Cheeses: normally $2.59, paid $.30 (Total: $1.20)
- 2 FiberOne yogurts: normally $2.50, paid $1 (Total: $2.00)
- 2 FiberOne bars +free Publix brand bars: normally $3.69, paid $1.13 (Total: $3.38)
- 40 ct Truvia packets: normally $3.99, paid $2.99
- Mentos gum: normally $1.50, paid $.25

We have officially mastered extreme couponing. We're not sure you're quite comprehending this picture, so we'll break it down for you:
- 48 rolls of Cottonelle toilet paper
- 10 Right Guard body washes
- 4 Crest ProHealth Whitening toothpastes
- 2 92-count GUM flossers
- 2 Schick Hydro shaving creams
- 8 BIC Soleil shavers
- 12 Noxema shavers
- 20 boxes/bags of pasta

The total of all of this came to $169.75.

The store paid us $2.29 to take it...Yes, we paid nothing and they paid us.

So one of us spent the Easter holiday basking in the Florida sunshine while the other stayed here all alone ):

To keep myself busy I cooked, ran around, laid by the pool, etc...

...and then Sunday I extreme couponed...and SERIOUSLY succeeded. Here is what is pictured above:

- A massive bag of Stayfree maxi pads
- A Yakisoba mac and cheese dinner
- A Voskos greek yogurt cup
- (2) Luster teeth whitening tooth paste (normally $8 each)
- A Smart Balance skim milk
- A package of Hormel Naturals smoked ham
- (3) tubes of Crest toothpaste
- (2) full size Dove men's deodorant
- (3) travel size men's/women's deodorant
- (2) bags of M&Ms
- (4) Reach flosses
- A bag of Always pantyliners
- (2) 2-packs of Purel laundry kits
- A Wet-N-Wild nail polish (I forgot to put it on the table!)

Now the funniest part about all this stuff is first of all, I don't use men's deodorant, maxi pads, or pantyliners. I also don't even eat Splenda because I'm allergic to it...but it was at the same store and I was buying other things and its FREE!!! So why wouldn't you take it? So we will probably open up a store at our apartment and give away the stuff we don't want...or trade it for bottles of wine, chocolate, etc....

Couponing Part Two

We basically just owned Publix & Kroger...The cute little girl at the checkout watched as the total kept plummeting with every coupon she swiped...all she could say was "wow, you uh sure have some good coupons".

Kroger we walked out without paying for anything. That's where the random deodorant and Yakisoba meal came from. It's next door to Publix and we knew they were free so, why not? Yeah that was kind of weird...going to the register, it ringing up as them owing us $. 25 cents (Kroger doesn't pay you if you save in the negatives apparently)...and we walked out with free stuff.

On to Publix...see the 4 4-packs of YoPlus? We didn't pay for those (normally $2 each)...
- Chobani $1.33: we paid $.40
- Triscuits $3: we paid $.50
- Idahoan Potatoes $1.25: we paid $.37
- Kraft Singles $3.49: we paid $1

Shoe Land

The combination of freezing weather and almost constant rain this past month really set us back on our Atlanta adventuring. We're officially back on track though, so get ready for some pretty amazing posts in the next few weeks.

So this post is on a place called Shoe Land. I know when we say that people think we are talking about a destination...a magical land of abundant shoes...and well, we are. Now it's not the classiest looking place, but as you can see above, their shoes are crazy cheap.

They have about 6-8 aisles that look like the picture above - shoes basically stacked from the floor to the ceiling. The sign out front is not lying to you. We have purchased shoes for as little as $4 and the most expensive was about $27. Now they have an entire aisle for boots. The boots are the only shoes we have ever seen over $20. These include everything from thigh highs to winter boots to sexy booties for going out.

They have evening wear shoes, open and closed toed heels, flats, sandals, men's, children's, you name it...and we kid you not, they are all less than $30. Now, we have a serious complex about spending money on shoes. We have too often been out at a bar and some sloppy girl decides to pour her ungodly, red, sex on the beach all over our feet. We can't be having that happen on $250 heels...and so we have Shoe Land. This place has allowed us to purchase massive amounts of affordable shoes that we're ok with wearing out, even if a shoe disaster happens to strike. Now most of you are thinking that these shoes must be ugly as hell...we have received more compliments on our shoes from Shoe Land than any other shoes we own. Still skeptical? Allow us to show you.

Um, pretty obsessed with these...the most expensive pair we have purchased: $23.99.

Gray platform pumps. Simple. Versatile. $14.99. Yep.

What you are about to see is what makes us obsessed with this store. These blue heels first caught our eye.

They are perfect and a completely impractical color, but at $17.99, who cares?

And then we decided, why stop at one pair? Did we really buy these in 4 colors? Why, yes we did.

Champagne perfection.

The lighting makes it hard to tell, but these are actually gray. In persona, the champagne ones have almost a pinkish blush tone to them and these are straight gray.

And it was only natural to buy black ones as well.

So the bottom line is, if you want amazing shoes at extremely low prices, you should probably head over to Shoe Land. We aren't saying that every pair will be as amazing as our top picks above, but if you stop in every so often, you're bound to find some awesome steals.

Rag-O-Rama

So today marked the first day it was nice enough to step outside without a coat. We decided to head on down to Little Five Points and do a little shopping.

Ok, so can we just start by pointing out that "we're all here 'cause were not all there" is a legit phrase for describing this little area. We didn't even need to shop, the people watching was entertainment enough. It consists of basically one long road lined with shops, restaurants, street entertainers and the most wildly dressed crowd we've experienced since coming to atlanta. We caught ourselves laughing multiple times, but it was awesome because there were people from all different backgrounds in one place.

There are plenty of options when it came to the shops, but our price range of the day was a little less than shelling out $60 for one dress...you can blame this on the fact that we got, not one, but TWO boots put on our car the night before...atlanta parking is not our friend, but that's an entirely different discussion...

Anyways, the "Buy, Sell, Trade" is what first caught our eye. We had places like this back at home and so we were immediately intrigued. Upon looking in the front window, we discovered this was not your typical resale/secondhand clothing store.

Yes, those are tutu's hanging from the ceiling. Rag-O-Rama has such an awesome feel to it. They have tons of reasonably priced items (we found shirts and dresses for $5-$20) and they have great quality and selections. They had normal clothes, vintage clothes, costumes, shoes, accessories, jewelry...We were especially attracted to their large display of vintage sunglasses ($5+) and handcrafted jewelry.

You should definitely stop in if you find yourself in Little Five Points. They have a "Buy Counter" where you can turn your clothes into cash or trade for something in the store. Their hours are Mon-Sat 11am-8pm & Sun 12pm-7pm. The Buy Counter is open Mon-Sat 11am-7pm & Sun 12pm-6pm. Head over to Rag-O-Rama and check out their site.
